During the joint press conference Prime Minister of Tigran Sargsyan and Mr Štefan Füle, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy in Armenia’s capital on Thursday, Mr Füle expressed his approval to Armenia’s position on Safarov case and its indignation at the extradition of Ramil Safarov from Hungary to Azerbaijan, where his was pardoned and promoted.
Answering to the question how Armenia can trust the European Union (EU) while Azerbaijan, despite a verdict passed by an EU member-state Hungarian court, got Ramil Safarov repatriated and declared him a hero, Mr Füle said that not only the EU, but also other international organizations positioned on the matter. He expressed his worry over the damage the pardoning and glorification of Ramil Safarov caused to the peace process.
Mr. Füle noted that stability depends on Armenia’s tremendous efforts of averting the danger of a new conflict.
