Eghiazar Ayntapci’s analytical article published by “First Armenian News and Analysis” discusses the results of sociological survey on joint candidate of the opposition and generally the essence of the idea. The survey conducted by Aharon Adibekyan’s team found out that Gagik Tsarukyan is seen as a joint candidate. There were announcements that he cannot be the candidate of the opposition because he isn’t opposition as such. The analyst puts forward a quest: “Isn’t it excessive to discuss the problem of joint candidate? Does it correspond to the existing situation in Armenia? The matter is that today Armenia is described not only by social-economic crisis, but also by political one. When there is no oppositional field, when the powers are not united, when they have a problem to be accepted by society, is it rational to speak of a joint candidate of opposition? Thus, Armenia needs a new quality opposition, which must be long-lasting and institutional. This is the urgent issue of the opposition.”- writes Ayntapci.
The analyst notes that in such situation the unification is a conspiracy, where the oppositional powers will be caught. “The idea of a joint candidate can take one more year from the opposition, thus deepening the crisis and disbelief towards them.”
Therefore, the question is how the opposition will take part in the presidential elections? Or whether it is worth to take part. Of course, the opposition must take part in presidential elections if it has resources to do anything. Unless the opposition has solved the strategic issues with the public, their resources are doubtable, to say the least, concludes the analyst.
