As reported, Intergovernmental Council for the oil and gas of the CIS will be dissolved.
The decision to support the dissolution of the protocol is already included in the agenda of the Government of Armenia on September 20.We should recall that the Intergovernmental Council for the oil and gas of the CIS was created in 1993 and the main aims of the organization were; in the context of 10 – 15 years to identify the needs of oil and gas countries – members of the Council, the preparation of bilateral and multilateral agreements on oil and gas supplies, maintaining a coherent policy on the part of the transit of oil and gas, etc.
11 countries joined the organization and Armenia joined the Council in 1995. In 2003, Armenia has limited its involvement in the format of “limited membership to participation in the programs of interest” and on March 30, 2012, at a meeting of the Commission for Economic Affairs of CIS Economic Council, Armenia decided on the dissolution of the Intergovernmental Council of the of the CIS oil and gas.
