As Georgian sources inform, Georgian Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili visited Dusheti and checked the construction of a hydroelectric power station on the river Aragvi, which started in April and will be finished in January next year.
During the visit Prime Minister stressed the importance of acquiring water resources of the country amid the growing demand for electricity.
“Only 20 percent of potential have been mastered in Georgia, which ranks second in the world in terms of water resources per capita. Around 17 hydroelectric power stations are being constructed to meet the growing demand in the country. Similar projects will be surely implemented in the future.” said Merabishvili.
Recall that Aragvi hydroelectric power station’s design capacity hits 8 megawatts and annual output – 50 million kilowatt / hour. The investment cost of the project is $11 million. In construction work about 122 people have been engaged.
