Azeri official sources write that ASALA is backed by the financial support of the Armenian lobby. Deputy Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan party (NAP), MP Mubariz Gurbanli told the party’s official website that the terrorist organization once established against Turkey has long been inactive, now some forces renovated ASALA again.
Gurbanli said that there was also an attempt to implement terrorist attack at the Eurovision 2012 song contest, though security agencies of Azerbaijan averted it. Statements of ASALA will burst like a soap bubble. According to him some circles want to turn ASALA into their weapon in the region.
“Azerbaijan is not afraid of ASALA threats. Trustee of this terrorist organization is Armenia. Armenians also created terrorist organizations in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan is able to ensure its security, and if needed, ASALA will get stronger response,” Gurbanli added.
“As we know Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora go on to increasing the artificial stir and set international opinion against Azerbaijan related to the extradition to Azerbaijan and pardon of Ramil Safarov. There is information that Armenian terrorist organizations threaten the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis abroad.”: concluded Gurbanli.
