Georgia and Azerbaijan will not discuss sales of the Georgian section of the Russia-Georgia-Armenia natural gas pipeline during the forthcoming visit to Baku by Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze, CRIEnglish.com reported.
“This point isn’t included in the agenda as there is a private interest regarding the issue,” said Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze on Monday.
Azerbaijan’s state oil and natural gas company SOCAR has shown an interest in purchasing the shares to be sold by the Georgian government.
Russia’s Gazprom reportedly offered 250 million U.S. dollars plus a 30-year supply contract of natural gas to Georgia at a fixed price of 30 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters to secure the purchase of the same section of the natural gas pipeline.
