“Gruzia Online” reports that in Tbilisi Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze met with his Swedish and Polish partners Carl Bildt and Radoslaw Sikorski.
After the meeting Vashadze held a joint press conference and said that the Swedish and Polish foreign ministers discussed relations between the EU and Georgia, integration of Georgia to NATO, the Georgian-Russian relations, as well as the situation in the region.
Vashadze commented on the tense situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan concerning the issue of notorious Ramil Safarov. “Georgia is interested in the fact which would impede the development and cooperation in the South Caucasus. Georgia wants to resolve all the issues in the region peacefully. Georgian authorities are doing their best Armenia and Azerbaijan not to traverse the last line.”
Carl Bildtn added that both Armenia and Azerbaijan understand that they cannot ultimate the situation. “Both sides understand that war is not in the best interest of either of them, and the international community takes the necessary steps.”
