Georgian media, citing the announcement made by Chiora Taktakishvili, press secretary of the ruling party the National Movement, reports that National Movement welcomed the statement of Catherine Ashton and Štefan Füle concerning the relations between the EU and Georgia , and, of upcoming parliamentary elections.
Note, EU urged that in the pre-election period, all parties must avoid violence, tension and hatred in their speeches and all political parties must comply with the requirements of electoral law.
To the response, Taktakishvili welcomed the statement, because, according to her, holding of the free and fair elections in Georgia, is in interests of Georgia and it citizens.
The source informs that according to Taktakishvili , a progress achieved by Georgia and in particular , on reaching an agreement on free trade, visa liberalization and the completion of the negotiations for an associate membership in the EU.
In the end Taktakishvilli, as reported, urged the electoral bloc of Georgian Dream, led by billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, “to stop such actions aimed at inciting hatred and violence in the country that serve to discredit the electoral process.”
