5 candidates are fighting to become Mayor in Vanadzor; the present mayor Samvel Darbinyan from “RAP”, the former vice governor of Lori region Edik Karaghanyan from “Prosperous Armenia” party, “The United Liberal National Party” member Taron Aprsyan and non-party candidates Tigran Grigoryan and Karen Tumanyan. Although it was expected that the campaign will be hot between the candidates o “RAP” and “PAP” parties, but the citizen of Vanadzor have sympathy towards non-party candidate lawyer Karen Tumanyan. According to the news the main competitor is the present long-term Mayor is Karen Tumanyan.
In the interview with “1in.am News and Analysis” Karen Tumanyan displayed humility and did not want to talk about it. “To be honest I do not want to speak about me,” he said. “What refers to the candidate of Prosperous Armenia party, in Vanadzor PA has no chance to win.
If selected, Karen Tumanyan promises to make changes in the present system, which, according to him will also change, “I think that some changes are to be made very quickly, and not by long-term programs, for people to understand that they can change the current situation through elections,” mentioned Karen Tumanyan.
Note that the majority of citizens of Vanadzor are dissatisfied with the current Mayor Samvel Darbinyan. According to Karen Tumanyan, people will express their dissatisfaction or not by voting.
