The British Parliament recognized the 1932-33 famine in Ukraine (Holodomor) as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. On Thursday, May 25, the members of the House of Commons unanimously supported the resolution.
“The Soviet Union exterminated millions of Ukrainians with a policy of forced starvation and deportation. This is reminiscent of today’s events in Ukraine. Like Stalin in the 1930s, today Putin is trying to destroy the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian identity,” said Pauline Letham, a representative of conservatives and the initiator of the vote.
