Hmayak Hovhannisyan, the head of the political scientists’ union, told the First Armenian News and Analyses that the incumbent government’s next step will be eliminating the ANC completely. He stated Ter-Petrosyan was responsible for those making March 1 events possible. The incumbent government showed it is incapability to handle the case. Instead Ter-Petrosyan withdrew from the presidential elections.
Hovhannisyan says Ter-Petrosyan had to take the responsibility for the change of the government which the relatives of March 1st events victims were urging him all the time. Age limit cannot be a justification, Hovhannisyan goes on.
Hovhannisyan says Ter-Petrosyan had 3 options: 2 honorable and one disgraceful. Ter-Petrosyan chose the disgraceful option while he could either put his candidacy or boycott the elections, Hovhannisyan believes.
Hovhannisyan concluded if Ter-Petrosyan believed Sargsyan is no better than Sadam Hussein, Mubarak, he should have taken the responsibility to fight against it and not withdraw. Ter-Petrosyan’s decision was not a political one.
