“His Holiness Catholicos Garegin the 2nd became the center of political scandal. The letter written by Arshak bishop Khachatryan from the name of Catholicos to the leader of Armenian episcopate in France and the envoy of West Armenian church T.Norvan Archbishop Zaqaryan was unveiled”, writes “Joghovurd” and adds.
“It is supposed that such letters were written to the other episcopates as well. By such letter they demand to give information about the RA citizens in corresponding countries. Besides Garegin the 2nd asked this in accordance with the government’s letter.
The letter proves that government puts the functions of MFA and NSS on Holy See. And this means the Catholicos has agreed not only to take up the label of “agent”, but also that state bodies are not able to realize their responsibilities. And this is in the case when according to 8.1 article of Constitution The Church is separate from the state”.
