Asbarez reports, that the Armenian National Committee of America joined an amicus brief this week to support a California law that protects the property right to Armenian Americans, who were refused to be given life insurance benefits during and after Armenian Genocide.
The filing follows a long and complicated legal history that has three separate and conflicting opinions from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the most recent of which was on February 23, 2012, writes Asbarez. In its ruling, the Ninth Circuit invalidated the California law extending the statute of limitations for certain life insurance claims, because Turkey opposes references to the Armenian Genocide and the use of the term.
