“First Armenian News and Analysis” got informed that the RA minister of Transport and Communications Gagik Beglaryan was in Moscow by an official visit where he met with the director of Roscosmos federative space agency Vladimir Popovkin. During the meeting they discussed the creation and installment of Armenian connection and communication satellite as well as the exploitation of Armenian geostationary orbit.
On this account Gagik Beglaryan noted that on July 9 by the agreement signed between RA ministry of transportation and connection and Information satellite system company, the work on creation of space system of television broadcasting on the orbit 71.4E has started. The parties agreed to soon sign an agreement with Geiser-Telekom to prepare the sponsorship of Armenian satellite.
As a result Armenia will have its own satellite of broadcasting for the first time. This will create new opportunities for the development of RA security, science, telecommunications technologies.
Roscosmos director appreciated Beglaryan’s initiative to send Armenian alphabet to cosmos in commemoration of 500th anniversary of printing in Armenia and Yerevan being world book-capital 2012 by UNESCO. Greeting the project, Popovkin offered to realize it for the upcoming Russian flight to space on Ocotber 31.
