As part of the jubilee events dedicated to Charles Aznavour’s 100th birthday, Two Arcs will open an interactive exhibition of figurative sculptor Mkrtich Mazmanyan’s face sculptures. From April 26 to May 10, 10 busts of the chansonnier will be presented during the exhibition. This unique interactive exhibition will help visitors discover the “hidden” Charlie.
The exhibition is based on paying tribute to Charles Aznavour and appreciating his vast musical and spiritual legacy to people. The author tried to translate his art into sculptural language with his pretentiousness.
“I didn’t have a problem copying the portraits, but I wanted to present them with my perception, my interpretation. The play of lights is, to some extent, Charles’ energetic, rich, and unexpected stage celebration, which he gave to humanity and Armenians for sixty years. I have seen and will see Charlie in my way, with my perception of the world and my sculptural pretentiousness,” says Mkrtich Mazmanyan, presenting the exhibition idea and discussing the face sculptures.
The book, dedicated to the sculptor’s works and creative life, will be presented on the exhibition’s opening day.
Mazmanian’s spatial sculptures in bronze and marble have been described as “abstract yet realistic.” The artist’s works reflect human ambition, awakening, and evolution. Mazmanyan’s unique style of sculpting was formed from the fusion of many cultures and artistic styles, although he learned and was most inspired by nature and people. Most of Mazmanyan’s works are dedicated to man in all his beauty.
