The Ministry of Internal Affairs representatives participated in the workshop “Georgian Experience of visa liberalization with the EU.”

From April 8 to 10, the workshop “Observation of the Georgian Experience of the Visa Liberalization Process with the European Union” was held in Georgia. Armen Ghazaryan, Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, and public officials and representatives of the field attended.

The workshop is carried out in cooperation with the “For Equal Rights” Educational Center NGO and the “Multinational Georgia” NGO, with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

On the first day of the event, the participants visited the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Georgia. They had a working meeting with representatives of the Public Services Development Agency and the State Commission on Migration.

Issues related to the security of biometric documents, the protection of personal data, legislative changes in the field of migration, and the protection of citizens’ rights were discussed.

At the Public Services Chamber of the Ministry of Justice, the participants got acquainted with the process of issuing biometric documents and providing documents for circulation in the unified system of service provision.

During the workshop, questions related to the start of the visa liberalization dialogue process with the EU and general planning, the process’s main work issues and challenges, the impact of visa liberalization on legal and labor migration, and legislative regulations and changes were discussed.

On the last day of the workshop, the participants met with the employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. They discussed the work carried out in the direction of complex border management, management of migration flows, asylum and readmission, organization of illegal migration, and prevention of trafficking.
