After the victory in the second round of the presidential elections, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, made a speech thanking the voters for their active participation in the voting.
“We respect the will of the voters, as we have done in all previous elections. Only we did not win. Turkey won, and democracy won. There were no losers in the May 28 elections; all 85 million people of Turkey won. The time has come for unity and consolidation for the sake of national goals and ideas,” he said.
In addition to talking about internal problems, Erdogan drew attention to geopolitical processes and upheavals in the world order, “The balance of power in the world is changing, and against this background, Turkey will appear as a completely different country, stronger and more authoritative. We will strengthen the fight against threats to national security, including the fight against terrorism near the southern borders of Turkey,” he said.
