Russia is interested in Armenia’s membership to EurAsEC but hardly any pressure will be on Armenia in this issue.
During the interview with “First Armenian news and analysis“ such viewpoint was expressed by the head of the Institute of Political and Military Analysis, Reserve Colonel, Anatoly Tsiganok.
Anyway Russia wants Armenia and post-Soviet countries to join that program.
“It should be clearly understood that in the west the chances of Armenia and Post-Soviet countries are not great. The product which Armenia and post-Soviet countries give is not in Europe’s interest. For this reason I think that Armenia should take additional steps for joining the Eurasian Union. It will be good both for Russia and Armenia. Membership to EurAsEC will however make Armenia even more dependent then it is now on Russia, and isolate it further from other global processes”, said Tsiganok.
He noted that nothing is imposed on Armenia, the Armenian side must render the final decision.
