“Tsarukyan probably calculated that his nomination will create more losses than gains.” This was announced today at a meeting with journalists by the Director of Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan, referring to the PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s decision not to run in February’s presidential elections.
“The PAP leader had a choice to participate or not. He probably made a decision not to participate in the elections, by calculating that his participation will bring more losses than gains to his team. Another question is whether the decision is right or wrong. I think the choice was made taking into account his interests. He may have reached agreements in his favor during a certain course of negotiations,” he said, adding that this is a normal political process.
As for the ANC’s format of participation in the elections, the scientist Alexander Iskandaryan believes that the Congress has three options. The first one is not to participate, which, however, he says, is not the best option for the ANC. The second option, according to scientist Alexander Iskandaryan, is nominating its own candidate in the face of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, in which case the ANC will have the opportunity to purchase one part of the PAP’s electorate votes. The third option he finds the participation by the nominating another candidate.
