During the 21 years of independence of the idea of constitutionality was not adopted and pursued in the Republic of Armenia, the state is not based on civic and democratic system. This was stated by the founder of “Institute of Democracy and Human Rights”, politician, international lawyer Armine Arakelyan, talking about the upcoming presidential election and the proposed alternative.
She noted that in the country’s democratic system, elections are a means of providing some changes. “Elections work, when they are carried out in the democratic system, and when the foundation and core of it are the interests of citizens and the formulated requirements. In this respect, the choice of a non-democratic system as a tool and technology cannot be effective, “commented Armine Arakelyan, adding that a criminal oligarchic, semi-authoritarian system is enacting in Armenia.
In this case, according to her, the so-called “parties”, government, opposition, the alternative will not fulfill their role.
“How are they alternatives, when they are legitimizing during all the years of their participation the oligarchic system of distribution of wealth? All this has nothing to do with the public interest and the interest of a citizen. Where are the ideas, what makes different the PAP from the ANC, ARF or the “Rule of Law”? Where are the results of their activities? Voiding and bankrupting country proves the inefficiency of these players,” said the politician.
She added that citizens should develop a new quality of political and civic culture, to realize their potential and strength of legitimacy, and be guided by the idea of the constitutionality. According to the analyst, this will continue as long as the citizens participate in the match of non-democratic and non-legal system.
