If Gagik Tsarukyan nominates his candidacy, a question remains open whether he will be a single candidate, writes reporter Hovhan Mandakuni in his political analysis, noting that the ANC’s position and the effect of the ANC-PAP alliance is significant now.
According to the reporter, the case of the ANC is relative, because there is a certain part of it, which is against the cooperation with the PAP, but ANC itself is an apologist for unity. “So, if the ANC refuses to cooperate with the PAP, in fact it will turn out that the ANC stopped fighting to overthrow the regime. This means that the ANC will have to solve the problem of internal contradictions and restrain the part, acting against the cooperation.”
But at the same time Mandakuni adds that the presence of that part in the ANC can be a good opportunity for Levon Ter-Petrosyan to lay on them the blame for failure. They will be criticized for failing the idea of a united front, and ruining the struggle against the regime and thus for serving to the President.
“In other words, Ter-Petrosyan can try to blackmail the “displeased” part and force them to remain silent, not to impede his course, if they do not want to be presented as “destroyers” of a victory against the regime. In this way Levon Ter-Petrosyan may settle the issue of his nomination, because there are circles in the ANC, claiming Ter-Petrosyan to run.” says the article.
Hovhan Mandakuni concludes, noting that in this respect Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s situation in the ANC is probably warranted for preceding his “course”, but only for now, because the situation can be very unpredictable after the elections.
