Georgian media, citing the announcement of Pádraig Murphy, OSCE’s special representative for the South Caucasus, reports that the possibility of establishing a team supporting Georgia, which would be based in Vienna, is being considered within the OSCE.
“The OSCE mission in Georgia was closed in 2009,” said the representative, adding “Nevertheless, we continue actively working with the country and look for ways for further cooperation. This would make an additional contribution to our activity in the Geneva international discussions, our work on the spot and the mechanisms preventing incidents and responding to them.”
Note, the format of the Geneva talks was created after the armed conflict in Georgia in August 2008, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement on August 12.
