This year Armenian technology companies participated in a ” IT Innovation in Georgia» GITI 2012 Conference. Our country has been participating in this event for several years, but this year’s delegation received the highest number of awards- 7 awards. This was stated during a meeting with journalists by the members of the Armenian delegation participating in the event.
Comparing the IT innovations of Armenia with Georgian ones, Deputy Director Vahan Hovsepian said. “The structure of Georgian IT is completely different. Georgia’s IT projects are conducted by state agencies and the main resource is concentrated on the part of the state. 80% of the IT covers the state, 20% – private sector. We have the opposite, about 90% is the IT private companies, while the remaining 10% – the state IT projects. That is why we are more powerful in the private sector.”
According to Hovsepian, both by the quantity and quality the Armenian IT private sector was much stronger than Georgian. But now there are some steps taken towards the development of the private sector.
