Armenian first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan commented on the NA special session, organized by ANC.
According to him the special session is a requirement of our law and no one can prevent it.
“I wanted to make this announcement since Republicans threatened that they would prevent the special session which is under RA law. According to our constitution, if 1/3 parts of MPs sign for an agreement, it should be accepted, moreover, NA speaker must himself hold the session. So I urge all the Republicans and members of the coalition to participate in the session. However, I should stress that knowing our authorities, they might try to prevent the session and in case it happens we will apply for the Constitutional Court. It doesn’t mean that our oppositional powers should step back, no, they must go forward. The thing is that like always the constitutional court will work for authorities and will justify them but the most important thing is that our opposition was united and did it. I have read in Armenian media that this occasion is the first time in 15 years; I should say that it isn’t true. Such things have happened before but as always it was prevented by authorities. This time the opposition must go till the end!” stressed Ter-Petrosyan.
