Back in the past when the “Rule of Law” political party was an oppositional power and wasn’t in the coalition, it offered to have the proportional electoral system but it seems that they forgot about their suggestion since they didn’t support the same idea which is now suggested by other political parties.
Moreover, yesterday “Rule of Law” MP Hovhannes Margaryan, announced that the number of “Rule of Law” party members is about 10 thousand but before the last parliamentary elections it was mentioned that there are about 170 thousand members in the party.
In order to find the answers to these questions, our News Agency interviewed Khachik Harutyunyan, “Rule of Law” MP.
Harutyunyan noted that they never forget any suggestions and promises.
“As you know we are in the coalition and such issue is not on our agenda and we haven’t discussed it. If we think that it is the time to talk about that system, certainly we will make discussions on it. What concerns the number of members in our political party, I should stress that currently we use strict policy. If in the past everyone could be member of our party, now it is not like that. The number which was mentioned, 170 thousand, is correct, but during the last elections most of them didn’t vote for us, so we cut them from our party. It doesn’t mean that we haven’t told the truth, but the thing is that they didn’t support us” said Harutyunyan.
Our journalist asked to comment whether they are still considered to be a powerful political party, having only 10 thousand members.
Harutyunyan said that it doesn’t mean anything, they have many supporters and they will reach their goal in the upcoming presidential elections.
Note, the “Rule of Law” announced that in the upcoming presidential elections it would support Serzh Sargsyan, current Armenian President.
