On November 4 the public lectures on biology, molecular biology and related sciences of Nobel Prize winners Tim Hunt and Martin Chalfy took place in Armenia. The lectures where sponsored by the Armenian Youth Fund, “Association of young biologists” NGO, the state committee of the Ministry of Education and Science, Tufenkian charity fund and Matenadaran.
More than 180 young scientists participated in the lectures. Tim Hunt’s lecture was on the core problems of cancer which, according to the professor, is aged people’s disease. In the evening, a round table discussion on the topic “How to become a successful scientist” took place where the young scientists asked questions and held discussions on the topics of their interests. The Nobel Prize winners stated they see a huge potential in the Armenian young generation of scientists.
