Analyst Aram Amatuni discusses Raffi Hovhannisyan’s political reasoning and comes to the conclusion that while Raffi Hovhannisian was the first to announce his candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections; all the other probable candidates are still quiet. Hovhannisian’s step may be explained by the freedom of not having, thus losing any political dividends.
Amatuni believes, the political arena in Armenia is in shadow and those engaged try their best not to show up their intentions as much as possible. In this respect, Hovhannisyan destructed his last chance of forming a further political career although he was considered one of the politicians having a most influential political potential.
The end of his political career was announced with the annulation of the “Liberal democrats” alliance. Perhaps this collapse took place much earlier because of Hovhannisian’s primarily adopted strategy to organize his followers under his flag rather than finding edges for cooperation between the parties. Thus, Amatuni deduces that the political arena in Armenia already lost a politician whose step is very close to be followed by Ter-Petrosyan too. Throughout the 21 years the solutions to the problems has gone into a deadlock rather than approached to its final solution and the politicians have found themselves in that same deadlock too. The political analyst believes the reason for the political deadlock in Armenia is mostly predetermined by the lack of expansion, where new names with fresh ideas could come which would move the deadlock.
