Karine Kuyumjyan, the head of the census and demographics sector of the Armenian National Statistical Service stated that according to 2011 census, the population in Armenia by 2011 has decreased with 194.157 persons. She stated that the first phase of the 2011 census which assisted by the deputy prime minister, Armenian Apostolic Church, World Bank, UN population fund, UN general commissioner on refugee issues, UN international development agency, Swedish Federal Government, Norwegian Government, Italian Government, Indian Government, also “ArmenTel Telecom” and “Orange Armenia” mobile operators.
As Kuyumjyan clarified, according to 2001 census the number of the population due to the current accounting is 130.823 and the general population – 194.157 less than in 2001. Final accounting of 2011 census will be ready by 2013.
