Analyst Aram Amatuni in his new article on “First news and analyse”s commented on the political situation of Armenia:
“Vartan Oskanian’s announcement certainly meant that he intends to be one of the candidates for the upcoming presidential elections. Even though he talks with “if”, I mean he says “if” Tsarukyan is not nominated, he will be that one, but the fact is that he is still the only political figure who talks about the nomination freely and the others are still thinking what they should do in the future. What do we have in this case? Oskanian urges the other “players” to get involved in the “game”, he passes “the ball” to 3 “players” in one moment. Serzh Sargsyan, Gagik Tsarkukyan and Levon Ter-Petrosyan must do appropriate steps concerning the issue. We are not going to talk about Sargsyan’s nomination, since there can’t be any question concerning the issue, Sargsyan will certainly be nominated. The problem is the following, who he would prefer to see as an opponent? Tsarukyan or Oskanian. All of us know that Sargsyan can impact on PAP actions, so he may discuss what to do. From other side, Oskanian’s announcements may be kind of a “deal” with Sargsyan. If Sargsyan doesn’t “punish” him, it will be easier for him to overcome the elections, than to compete with Tsarukyan, who is more honored by people than Oskanian.
What concerns Levon Ter-Petrosyan, (ANC leader), he can’t make some changes, since he may compete for the second place. But as we see the second place is already for PAP. What should they do? Support PAP or participate in the elections or “win” the third place and stay calm? Petrosyan is in the bad situation, since as you know there is a conflict inside the ANC party; half of the party supports PAP the other half does not. Petrosyan must finally decide what he is going to do.
It is the high time for Gagik Tsarukyan to decide whether he is going to participate in the elections or not. But there is another great problem, what he will do with the PAP? What if PAP loses the elections? How can he overcome the issue?
Finally we reached Robert Kocharyan, who is kind of out from this “game”, he has passed all his “skills” to Oskanian”.
