Leader of the “Georgian Dream” political coalition Bidzina Ivanishvili told reporters on Wednesday in Tbilisi that his first foreign visit he intends to make to the U.S.
Elections in Georgia were held on October 1. According to preliminary data of the Central Election Commission after counting 97.03% of protocols, by the party list the political coalition “Georgian Dream” gains 55% of votes (the party of Mikhail Saakashvili, “United National Movement” – 40.27%), by single-seat constituencies the opposition bloc got 38 seats in the Legislature, supporters of Saakashvili – 35 seats.
“My first visit will be to the U.S., Washington. Despite the fact that I was invited to this trip, I asked to postpone the visit until the presidential elections in the U.S. are over. I received an agreement for this, and I intend to go to the USA as soon as there will be presidential elections, “- said Ivanishvili.
The leader of the coalition said that he was going to return to Georgia after visiting Washington and has no plans to visit the countries of Europe, though he had received invitations. At the same time, Ivanishvili said that he “did not receive congratulations from Russia yet and did not get in touch with the Russian side.”
