The issue on Teghut operation was discussed at the UN European Economic Commission.
Teghut civil defense member, lawyer Arthur Grigoryan said that the committee discussed the issue on September 25, with the members of the initiative, the Ministry of Environment and Teghut operating company “Vallex”s lawyer. “The state cannot be submitted by a private commercial company, but in this case the state invited the representative of the mining company to represent it together with Armenia. This is already a violation according to the Article 2 of the Convention, and we raised this issue for the committee, they also promised to solve it.”
According to A. Grigoryan, the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee will make a decision on Teghut operation permits to deprive them of the opportunity to appeal to the court in Armenia in the December. He thinks that the decision by the Government of Armenia will be another record of violation of Aarhus Convention.
