Would they divest Oskanian? The chief prosecutor actually denied it, but did not say that such a thing is not possible. Then there is such an intention, but it is obvious that such a scenario is developing. Finally, “Civilitas” was a great opportunity to close the case by the Court of Appeal, which at the same time could show that there is an independent court.
A possible variant is to deprive Oskanian from immunity and transfer the witness into a defendant. For Serzh Sargsyan it may be a good possibility to make a pressure on the PAP-Kocharian wing at the presidential election.
On the one hand, however, it does not guarantee a positive effect, because it may be simply treated as a reprisal against political rivals and opponents. On the other hand, all of this, of course, can serve as a means of diverting attention, distracting from more important social and political issues.
However, there is no doubt that the case of Oskanian has a potential, and the authorities, who are not in very good socio-economic conditions for the elections.
