Georgian media recalls that President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili and Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán today opened the new airport named after David Agmashenebeli, in Kutaisi.
Georgian President stressed that the airport was constructed by Hungarian specialists, who installed the roof of the airport building.
“It is one of the most complex constructions, and Hungarian specialists adequately coped with this,” he said and added “Kutaisi Airport is the air gateway for West Georgia and it will be one of the most inexpensive airports. He stressed that negotiations are underway so that Kutaisi Airport became a hub for return traffic from Europe to Asia.”
“The flight from Tbilisi to Kiev usually costs $600 but from this airport it will be $100. That is the difference and an indication that there is no monopoly,” he said stressing that in addition to Kiev it will be possible to carry out flights from Kutaisi to Minsk, Tel Aviv and other world cities.
