Expert on South Caucasus Sergey Minasyan touched upon the issue Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement in post-Safarov environment. Minasyan noted that Safarov’s extradition and glorification cemented the status-quo in the region. “I cannot explain how far the status quo is cemented now but there will hardly be any development in the negotiation process. One can state Safarov’s case is possibly a positive development for both sides for different reasons. The case created a very solid argument for both Armenia and NKR related to the negotiation process and cooperation with foreign players to promote for no mutual concession in exchange for security”, noted Minasyan.
Touching upon Karen Mirzoyan’s appointment as NKR Minister of Foreign Affairs Minasyan noted Mirzoyan to make the NKR voice more heard in the interntional arena. According to the expert NKR is not possible to join the negotiation process as a negotiating side very soon.
