Author Russian Regnum news agency reports that NATO delegation of ambassadors, including representatives from Lithuania, Estonia and Poland, arrived in Tbilisi to get acquainted with pre-election situation in Georgia.
The first meeting of diplomats was held with Georgian Ombudsman, Giorgi Tugushi.As reported, it lasted about an hour, and after the meeting, the Ombudsman reported that the ambassadors were interested in the overall state of the media, the public audit activities, the state of human rights in Georgia, the pre-election situation and how the election will take place in the institutions of the penitentiary system.
NATO ambassadors paid special attention to the problem of satellite dishes and were eager to know why the directors of “Global TV” and of “Maestro” companies were arrested.
The Ombudsman stated that he provided all the information to the NATO delegation and expressed his position on all the issues that interested them.
The visit includes meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Grigol Vashadze, Speaker David Bakradze, State Minister for Integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures, Tornike Gordadze, as well as with leaders of various political parties and representatives of civil society organizations.
