Azerbaijani media, ANN news agency, reports that the Danish-Azerbaijani “Vatan” Society, operating in Copenhagen, has addressed a letter (related to the release of Ramil Safarov) to US President, Barrack Obama and UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.
In the letter, as reported, was pointed out that Armenia “has occupied” 20% of Azerbaijani territory and as a result , “one million people became refugees” and Ramil Safarov was “among the forcedly displaced persons”.
The source informs that the letter also underlined that the extradition of Azerbaijani officer was carried out in “accordance” with the Strasbourg Convention adopted in 1983 and added that Safarov’s pardoning in Azerbaijan is not a new experience, since such events happened many times in the recent history.
As we understand from above mentioned statement, pardoning a murderer is a usual thing for Azerbaijani Government….
The letter calls on the US to review its position on this issue.
