Azerbaijan refused to carry out its responsibilities towards Hungary on Ramil Safarov’s extradition, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing an Armenian officer.
This was announced by the EU supreme representative of foreign affairs policy Catherine Ashton’s press secretary Maya Koctijanchich.
Safarov was pardoned immediately after his arrival in Baku.
According to the press secretary, Azerbaijani’s step threatens the vulnerable stability of the region. She reported that EU demands explanations from Azerbaijan on freeing Safarov.
