“You know very well in which country we live, where there is no real struggle in local government elections. We will have the same vision which was during the parliamentary elections,” ANC member told to “Aravot.”
“Of course this is a real, sober and realistic assessment. But if I dared to write such a thing, the same opposition members would say that I am killing the faith and hope in people, I am implanting conciliatory and accommodating mood, rather than giving them the spirit of sacred struggle and so on. When oppositional member says that it is not real for struggling for the mayor position, some doubt rises. As I understand opposition’s mission is an alternative one. For example, in Gyumri where, according to local human rights’ activities there are 5000 homeless people, Vardan Ghukasyan has not solved that problem; Samvel Balasanyan will not solve either. The task of oppositional candidate for Mayor is to find ways for minimizing the number to 1000 during 4 years and the candidate should present those ideas to the voters.. After 3 years when the number of homeless remains the same, opposition says, “you saw that the authorities did not manage to solve this problem.” If there is no alternative candidate such a questions “are sentenced” to remaining unsolved for forever.
“Of course, not in all places we have the same vision, in some of the communities we have struggle between RAP and PAP. But the fight between powerful clans will be a great exaggeration,” writes “Aravot.”
