The Palestinian “Hamas” movement has informed the mediators of Egypt and Qatar that it approves the draft agreement proposed by them to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The corresponding statement was published on the official Telegram channel of the movement.
Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al Thani, and the head of the General Intelligence Directorate of Egypt, Abbas Kamel. The movement approved the draft of the ceasefire agreement they proposed,” the document says.
There is no information on what specific grounds they agreed to in that proposal or whether the project approved by “Hamas” differs from the one agreed upon with Israel. Egypt presented the last official ceasefire proposal to Hamas on April 27.
IRNA reported the details of the proposed ceasefire agreement in Gaza. According to the source, the agreement will require a complete cessation of hostilities.
Khalil al-Hayya, the deputy head of Hamas, presented the details of the ceasefire proposal and said: “The proposal presented to us by Qatar and Egypt consists of three stages, including the complete withdrawal of troops from Gaza, the return of refugees and the exchange of prisoners,” he noted.
