The fleet of the Romanian Air Force will be equipped with modern multi-purpose fighter jets of the latest F-35 modification.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense submitted a request to the parliament for permission to purchase 48 aircraft from the United States. The first batch, 32 infantry fighting vehicles, will cost the country’s budget 6.14 billion euros, and 16 more aircraft will be purchased later, dpa reports. According to Romanian media, this is the largest arms purchase in the country’s history.
