On July 17, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
During the conversation, the situation in the South Caucasus was discussed, as well as the reconciliation process between Baku and Yerevan.
The Russian side confirmed the need for the complete and immediate unblocking of the Lachin Corridor and the restoration of transport links along it in both directions, by the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, based on the need to create normal conditions for everyday life support of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Regarding the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry on July 15, regarding the incorrect comments of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, it was emphasized that the Russian Federation has always respected and continues to respect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, fully adheres to the spirit and letter of the bilateral declaration on allied cooperation.
“At the same time, this does not neutralize the task of comprehensively promoting the process of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, solving all issues on the agenda, including ensuring the rights and security of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh exclusively through peaceful political and diplomatic methods,” the statement said.
It is noted that the Russian side reaffirmed its readiness to organize a tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia in Moscow shortly.
“The topic of agreement on the peace treaty will be discussed, followed by the summit of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia in Moscow to sign the mentioned document,” reports the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The meeting occurred in an atmosphere of mutual respect and constructiveness.
