The key topics of the meetings of the high-ranking representatives of the USA, Great Britain, and the EU, who arrived in Tbilisi, were the Western sanctions and the prevention of the entry of goods under sanctions through the territory of Georgia, which Russia can use for military purposes.
EU Special Representative for Sanctions David O’Sullivan, Head of the US State Department’s Sanctions Coordination Office, and others met with Georgian authorities, including Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
Doubts are further strengthened by the fact that the visit to Georgia followed the EU’s adoption of the 11th package of sanctions. There, for the first time, it was announced about the possibility of imposing restrictions on the supply and export of goods to third countries to circumvent the sanctions.
The EU will resort to such restrictions as a last resort if attempts to negotiate with these countries and individual measures do not bear fruit.
