Turkey plans to build new nuclear power plants

Turkey plans to start producing electricity in the country’s first nuclear power plant, Aghkuyu, in 2024. Salih Sari, Head of the Nuclear Energy Department of the Ministry of Energy of Turkey, announced this in Istanbul on Wednesday during the NPPES-2023 exhibition and summit of the NPP.

The country is negotiating with Russia and South Korea to construct a second nuclear power plant in the Black Sea province of Sinop. In addition, negotiations are underway on making the third nuclear power plant in the European part of Turkey (Thrace region). It is also planned to build a fourth nuclear power plant.
