“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia condemns the meeting of the President of Belarus with the representatives of the occupation regime,” said the statement, which was distributed on the occasion of the arrival of the leader of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, in Belarus.
According to the assessment of the Foreign Ministry of Georgia, this action is an attempt to legitimize the occupation regime of Russia.
“The mentioned operation grossly violates Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders and is an attempt to legitimize the Russian occupation regime.
We call on Belarus to respect Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders, to stop taking actions contrary to international law’s fundamental principles and norms,” the statement said.
It should be noted that the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, announced during the meeting with the head of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, “Perhaps these relations will also serve the peace and friendship between the Abkhazian and Georgian peoples.”
