Ministry of transport of Azerbaijan made a statement on the Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili’s announcement during the interview about the effectiveness of the “Kars-Akhalkalaki” railway project.
In the statement of the press-service of the ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan it is mentioned: “There is no doubt that the “Baku-Tbilisi-Kars” railway project is both on regional and on global scale. And the railway section of “Kars-Akhalkalaki” is one of the segments of that project. There is an agreement on a legal basis between the three governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. According to this agreement, the Government of Azerbaijan has provided soft loan to the Georgian side at the amount of 775 million dollars for the implementation of the Georgian part of the project.”
Azerbaijan is sure that this project is of a great strategic and economic importance to the development of the region and out of it. It should also be noted that after the implementation, this project will become part of the system of regional security.
