Georgian government should do everything possible to maximize the free electoral environment during these few remaining weeks before the elections, – said the US former Deputy Secretary of Defense Celeste Wallander in an interview with the “Voice of America”.
“Transparency is the main condition. The responsibility of the government is to comply with all the conditions for free and fair elections. There should be no complaints about the voter lists, there should be order at polling stations, in the pre-election period the opposition parties should have the opportunity to freely present their programs and meet with the public. In short, the government has specific and pronounced duties to hold elections in a peaceful manner. The opposition parties bear the responsibility, as they have to act within the law, “- said Celeste Wallander.
