Georgian media reports that according to the to the Central Election Commission of Georgia, until today, August 28, 9 foreign and 24 local organizations have so far been registered to observe the parliamentary elections which will be hold on October 1.
As reported, these are the foreign organizations which have been registered: the U.S. International Republican Institute (IRI), U.S. National Democratic Institute (NDI), the International Young Democrat Union (IYDU), the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, European Democrat Students (EDS), the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Transparency International Latvia and the U.S. Embassy in the UK.
The source adds that the following organizations are the local ones : the League of Voters, Georgian Young Lawyers Association, Transparency International Georgia, Centre for Electoral Environment Development, Save Life movement, International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), Free choice for civil society, the Centre for Human Rights, Multinational Georgia and Former Prisoners for Human Rights.
The CEC is still continuing to accept applications from organizations in order to monitor the elections.
