On September 9th there will be mayor and council elections in Vanadzor. In the electoral district number 30 there are 53 candidates for 14 council places. The majority are directors and owners of different Ltd-s, organizations, and shops.
Why so many businessmen want to be council members, when this is considered to be “not-paid” job? It is obvious that they gain privilege. Out of 53, the 10 are from ARP, all of them are self-run. But out of PAP 8 candidates, the 6 are nominated by the party. PAP didn’t run and didn’t support Lori former governor’s Styopa Ayvazyan’s son Armen Ayvazyan.
Armenian revolutionary federation has 2 candidates, the one being nominated by the party. The 3 candidates of ANM are self-run like ARP.
The main part of insurgent council members has put their candidacies one more time. Thus there will be hot struggle; it will be difficult to make a right decision among variety of candidates. We just hope that the new council will serve people, not their own profit or business.
