The Security Council Secretary, Armen Grigoryan, announced on public TV that the number of EU observers on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border will increase.
“The Armenia-Azerbaijan border is very long; the civilian mission cannot carry out proper work with the resources it has so far. The EU civilian mission is doing an effective job and should have a greater capacity to continue and make it more effective,” he said.
Grigoryan answered the question by saying that Russia considers EU observers to be carrying out espionage activities against Russia and Iran.
“There is no observation mission on the Armenia-Iran border; I don’t understand why the Russian representatives make such claims. EU observers bring stability to the region. I don’t know how they can carry out espionage; let the Russian Federation present the facts, and we will discuss,” said Grigoryan.
