As “Hraparak” newspaper promised in yesterday’s edition, the letter of Vano Siradeghyan is already published. Vano Siradeghyan has denied the newspaper’s publication that he had died, “This is one of those exceptional cases when we are happy that we were mistaken,” mentioned the editor, Armine Ohanyan.
The newspaper introduces Siradeghyan’s letter in the full format, “Mrs. Editor, I do not want to believe that you think so bad about me, you should not have doubt in me, in this step I have found a trick, which will let my relatives know if something happened. I understand that the paper has its interests and rating ambitions, but you broke my silence (at least 5 years of silence and not 2, as you wrote) through the worst way. So I underestimate my letter’s scolding to you, clarification left on my friends. In general I try to isolate myself from Armenia; particularity what is called “Armenian politics”. Especially during the recent years. I have been isolated to the level of not watching Armenian television even for a second during those 12 years, if not counting those rare moments, when changing channels I suddenly watched Armenian ones accidentally. Believe that even if we take the total amount of those seconds it will not pass for more than 2 minutes during those 12 years. I do not watch Russian television as well for the same hygienic reasons. May be it is the reason that I live long.
It is a chance for me to speak about the petition. On the first drive I wrote the title; “Stop it”, but cut the paper in the morning, realizing that such a response not only is unfair towards my friends, but also a rude and ungrateful attitude towards even one person who signed under it. The event’s being humiliating is not of importance to me.
What am I thinking about coming back? For 8 years I had some idea about it, now I don’t think at all.
I will come back to Armenia in one way or another, but I hope that I will never see the political, social, moral destructions, which our country has been subjected to, during my absence.
You may not believe, but I will tell that I took care of the incident, so that my “contact” with Yerevan will be lowered to minimum.”
